Teacher Who Injured Student Risks Jail Term

Written By: Olachi Njoku on 20-Mar-2017 10:47:48 132 views

Policemen in Kaduna State are set to charge Moses Auta, a teacher in Government Junior Secondary School, Kachia, Kaduna State, for injuring a student and damaging her eye while whipping her.

Ralia Suleiman, a JSS3 student and the deputy head girl of the school, was hit and her eye damaged when the teacher allegedly used a horsewhip that had iron pellets to beat her.

The State Commissioner of Education, Andrew Nok, said a four-member committee made up of the Permanent Secretary, the Director of Schools and two other Directors, had been set up by his ministry to investigate the incident. The committee is to submit its report by next week.
